Blocks Below Broad
AAA World - September/October 2003
A typical stroll through pedestrian-friendly B3 (Blocks Below Broad) will undoubtedly lead you to Capogiro, the super-swank gelateria that is B3's highly-trafficked epicenter. Here, Stephanie and John Reitano create authentic, artisanal gelati and sorbetti. Everything is made fresh daily using locally farmed, seasonally appropriate ingredients and milk from grass-fed, hormone-free cows.

The Reitanos offer exquisitely executed versions of flavors you'd expect - chocolate, pistachio, vanilla. But they also offer fanciful tastes that surprise. From zingy lemon and purple basil sorbetto to olive oil gelato (it's a mouth-feel thing), there's always something unique to try.

"We chose B3 because we wanted a European feel, room for outdoor seating and a corner location. If we'd chosen Rittenhouse, we would have ended up in a B location," says Stephanie Reitano. "When we moved in, there wasn't much here, but we had faith we were going to be able to create a beautiful spot."
